Diallel Analysis of Eight Yellow Maize Inbred Lines for Earliness and Grain Yield

Combining ability for grain yield and other traits were evaluated in a half diallel fashion maize. Eight yellow maize inbred lines crossed excluding the reciprocals during summer season of 2018 at Gemmeiza station, resulting 28F1 along with check SC168 two locations (Gemmeiza Sids) 2019 season. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) four replications was used. Mean squares GCA SCA highly significant all studied combined data, except ear diameter. The non-additive gene effects most responsible controlling inheritance days to 50% silking, plant height, length yield. While additive had important role height parents; P6 P7 general combiner p 4 earliness. crosses P3 xP7, P5 x P8 andP6 desirable Meanwhile, P2 xP8, P6, P4 7 showed high effect yield. single crosses; P8,P3 P7, xP7 andP7 desirable mean values earliness
